Do You Need:

>> A professional headshot? Perhaps a senior portrait?

>> A dramatic image to help nab your next audition?

>> An updated Facebook profile picture?

>> A fabulous photo of yourself or a loved one?

>> A baby, maternity, anniversary, or even a product photo?

You’re in luck!

Portraits for PFund is a unique fundraising event where new donors get a chance to receive a high-quality studio (or outdoor) image shot by a professional photographer-volunteer, as a thank you for spreading the word about — and giving generously to — PFund Foundation.

Professional photographers often charge a minimum of $200 for a studio session. This is your opportunity to receive a professional image for a minimum donation of $50, with a suggested donation of $100 if you’d like to receive your image within 36 hours. You’ll feel great knowing that your dollars will work to ensure that LGBTQ people are celebrated and live free from discrimination, violence, invisibility and isolation — right here in Minnesota and across the Upper Midwest.

This year’s photo team includes: Rebecca Lawrence of RJL Photography, Aja M-Beers of Ahania Photography, Sher Stoneman of Sher Stoneman Photography, Anna Min of Min Enterprises Photography, LLC, and many smiling volunteers!

Creating Change Conference Jan 2012

Next Tuesday I will be flying to Baltimore with Anna Min of Min Enterprises to photography the Creating Change Conference put on by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Joining us as the official photographers for the event is Maggie Lee of Philadelphia.  I am really looking forward to this amazing opportunity and I am grateful to Min Enterprises and NGLTF for selecting me as a photographer. This will be my first time attending the conference and I am excited to experience and document work that so many people have done to bring thousands of queers and allies together for discussion and action. I anticipate this years Creating Change conference not being my last.

“What’s Creating Change? Only the premier annual organizing and skills-building event for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and their allies.

The conference is run by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and attracts more than 2,500 people from all over the country every year. Powderhorn365

http://www.powderhorn365.com/

I am starting a year as a weekly photographer for the Powderhorn365 project. Each day a photographer will create an image with the Powderhorn Park neighborhood (38th-Lake, Chicago-Cedar). I will be covering Mondays for a year! That’s 52 images. Today I was a guest and took the images below. Enjoy!
I’m looking forward to having to produce images on a regular basis and pushing myself creatively. You can’t be a photographer without a camera so here’s to keeping it in hand.

“Butches Can Bake?”- a photography project

After an invigorating photo shoot with a group of queer friends, R J (a queer photographer from Minneapolis) had a discussion with one of the models who is a trans masculine guy. R J’s friend mentioned that, often the sexuality of masculine female-bodied people is put in the background. Femme women tend to have the spot light with all eyes on them.

R J felt the need to explore this more. How does a masculine female-bodied person assert their sexuality in society? Does that look different when they are around queer or straight people? Males or females? How does the dominating male gaze affect how they present themselves? What (non sexual) roles are butch and masculine of center people pushed into or away from?

R J plans to create a photo documentary exploring these questions among many others. R J will create an exhibit that uses the words and thoughts from the community, images both constructed and candid, and video clips from interviews to stimulate discussion and social awareness to the viewers.

R J is looking for models, interview subjects, volunteers and monetary contributions (because lighting, printing and equipment is expensive).
Please contact her if you are interested in participating in the project or following its process.
